All data is stored encrypted on the USS256. The integrated high-speed AES hardware-based encryption module operates independently of any software and is resistant to cold boot and similar attacks. To increase the safety of the USS256 it has a type of self-destruction mechanism, if an unauthorized access occurs and a preset number of failed attempts of password entries is reached, the data stored on the stick will be destroyed. The epoxy coating protects the hardware from manipulation and moisture. The formatting software provides the possibility to create a protected and a public partition and to adjust the sizes of these. It is possible to determine the number of failed attempts of password entries to avoid unauthorized access to the USB Security Stick. You can choose user password and administrator password, if the preset number of failed attempts of user password entries is exceeded, it is still possible to enter the administrator password to gain access to the data. If the administrator password was entered 3 times wrongly, the stick will be blocked automatically and the data stored on the device will be deleted. The USS256 can be reset to factory setting for a data wipe and used again. An additional feature is the automatic sign off function. The USS256 is able to log off from the system, if inactive. The time interval for this function can be selected or can be deactivated by the user.
